My First Post

Context

Well, first of all, I would like to clarify a bit about the fundamental idea of this site.

I am not a tech guru or senior. I am just a 23-year-old who wants to document his study journey and show the development process on topics he likes.

I am the type of person who is interested in diverse subjects, but I quickly get tired when I reach a certain level and realize that the effort to learn more does not bring me a clear practical return.

An example of this is the Pareto principle, where 20% of the knowledge of a topic solves 80% of the problems. At least that’s how I see it in practice.

I understand that this is not, in fact, a learning problem, but a search for efficiency. My time is scarce, so I need to optimize the free time I have, especially when I am not studying something out of obligation, but out of interest.

Who am I

I am a Computer Engineering student, which in itself is already a very difficult course that requires continuous study.

In addition, I work in the technical support of a cable factory, Lightera, which has a sector dedicated to the deployment of GPON networks — Gigabit Passive Optical Network — an area that requires deep and quite niche knowledge in networks.

At the company, I work in the Post-sales, Technical Support, and Project Deployment sector, also known as STC.

Today, I work mostly dedicated to the IoT area, with the EyON product, which was created to help internet providers monitor, through sensors, possible failures in fiber optics in a more segmented way. The idea is to reduce the operational cost and the time required to identify problems in the network.

My work

What made me stand out in the company was the development of a tool in Python that collects metrics from sensors and facilitates the visualization of problematic or malfunctioning sensors.

I believe I will make a post dedicated only to explaining this work better, the problem that existed, how the tool came about, and what results it brought.

Objective of the blog

The objective of this blog is to show the ideas I have and create a community interested in exchanging ideas, information, and directions.

As a young person, sometimes I feel lost about which direction to follow, both thinking about a future as an entrepreneur and in the present as an employee.

The idea — and perhaps the “dream” — is to become a digital nomad, building a digital business that, in the long term, gives me freedom.

I don’t intend to make very long posts on this blog. I believe that timely and more directed posts are more interesting, especially in the “tiktokenized” world we live in.

I have a head full of ideas, and I think this is a good place to dump and organize what I think.

Inspiration

I use the great master Fabio Akita, owner of AkitaOnRails.com, as inspiration, whom I take as a reference for the path I intend to follow in life.

I don’t want to repeat his steps, but use as a base the philosophy he addresses on his channel and repeats constantly wherever he goes:

“Do not outsource your decisions.”

I think this is a good motto to live by.

In the end, nobody has much of an idea of what they are doing on this blue ball of water we call Earth. Most just make up rules, projecting their own worldview onto others.

This works for mental passives who cannot discern and rationalize their own lives without depending on other people’s opinions.

Closing

Well, without extending too much on the subject and almost turning this into a rant, I believe this was a brief overview of the intention behind this project.

I like to think that, this time, I will make this a routine — and not just another project that got swept under the rug, like so many others.
